wow, the original 60 gig owners are slowly dying off. Id've thought i'd be first what with me running F@H on my ps3 for 8 hours a day at least

hmmm i got a 60 and it hasnt happened to me ... how do u guys turn ur PS3 offf ... put it on standby then the back or just the back... for me its just the back and my old PS2 and seemed to be alright Smile

i leave mine on standby cos i cba to turn it off
do u get n e warnings like game freezes then un freezes etc or does it just happn straight away
red ring of death sounds better tha yellow light of death

Whydo think you got a HDD error dan you retard? The whole point of giving you the option to shut down the system is that you use it, or risk damaging your system.

i think cos i had the ps3 running for like 6 hours n i was playing cod for long n stuff. it got yellow light but then worked agen for 30 mins. then got yellow light permanantly

i got 90gb ps3 and it still happened even though im not on it incredibaly much but i guess i just havn't cleaned vent tings so that may be it

i dont do fan test and mine is vertical......stood up on the base with it reading playstation 3 ...upright... just if u didnt no wat i meant by verticle but eh.... ? craig had his verticle and got YLOD but meh i have faith in my old PS3

Mine is horizontal, the Japs did a thermal test and found that heat distribution was better with it horizontal

Hold your PS3 up vertically, with the fan facing towards the floor. Make sure you're holding the PS3 in the air, otherwise the fan will be blocked. Holding it like this makes the heat sensor go crazy and tell your PS3's fan to go faster and faster. It should increase in speed around 4 times. Hold it like that for about 30 seconds and then turn it off and start it up again.

put yor ps3 on standby
turn it off with the switch at the back
flick the switch again while holding the eject button
wait for fan to stop having a spack-attack
turn it off at the back again

n then do what eva u want...
that is the official and safe way to do it

hmmm brimmy i tried ur way... all wat happened is the disk came out ...i put it on standby ,,,,
turned it off at the back.... turned it back on with the eject button held down.... did nothing other than ejecting the disk ???
